Fake BBC hirer alert!

A hire company have been approached by a gentleman using the name David Jones, allegedly of BBC Studioworks. He quoted a genuine BBC contact number but when the number was called to check, they had nobody there by that name.

The email address he used was not a legitimate BBC address but a generic free email account with BBC before the @ sign rather than after and he was attempting to order the equipment in a rush for immediate delivery.

This name – David Jones has been used before in 2012 to obtain goods under the guise of being BBC staff and other broadcasters were also impersonated around this time.

Please put your hire desks on alert, to ensure that any requests from major broadcasters, from unfamiliar contacts, are checked out thoroughly before any kit is delivered to them.
