A Canon HJ17 lens – sn 01311427 , which was for sale on the web, was stolen via a paypal fraud.
An approach was made to the seller via an eBay account which was later found to have been hacked and very realistic but alas spoofed PayPal emails came through showing a payment had been made with PayPal but was on hold pending despatch.
